Journey To The 7th Most Dangerous City in the West

Published by Joshua Eng on

For my Birthday this year, our group had plans to go to Lake Tahoe and stay the weekend. Before that however, I had to spend a few days in Vallejo, one of the most dangerous cities in the west…At least, that’s according to the FBI in 2023. My friend Erik most graciously offered to house me for a few days before leaving for Tahoe. For those who don’t know, November 9th is the actual day of my birth which meant I would end up spending it in Vallejo.

I thought about the possible dangers that could be present…getting robbed at gunpoint while grocery shopping, walking into the middle of a gang fight, being kidnapped and ransomed. Luckily none of these ended up happening. Erik thankfully lived in the nicer part of Vallejo, so the supposed danger was not nearly as present. I have to say, based on the eye test, Vallejo did not look nearly as ghetto as my friends hyped it up to be. It was almost disappointing. This was however, just based on the eye test, the people could be much worse here.

Either way, I’m thankful for being able to stay here with my friend Erik and enjoy the company of those joining us for my Bday celebration, even if the city I’m staying in is supposedly the 7th most dangerous city in the west.
