Golden-Gate Half-Marathon

Published by tfiegdmy on

This past weekend, I had the pleasure of completing my 2nd half-marathon at the Golden Gate Bridge. I did all of this while having an big toe with a huge chunk of nail peeled off…It was somewhat painful running with that, but I was not about to let my toe stop me completing this race and most importantly, I was not going to let my $158 fee go to waste. Another important thing I want to highlight, my friend Erik also ran the half as well. It was his first time. More importantly, he was able to complete the race despite claims that he might not even make it. Erik was determined to prove to himself and other people that he could do it.

Today’s Reflection

What Erik and I had in common that day was our willpower. There are times in life where you definitely need to be a realist involving your own limitations, but there are also plenty of times in life where you need to push yourself past your limits. The key to accomplishing that is willpower…where you draw that willpower will differ from person to person. For some people, it could be a desire to prove themselves, to others, they could be driven just by the desire to not see $158 go to waste….
